A native of Washington D.C., Ms. Angel began her dance training with Ballet Russe Premier Danseur Oleg Tupine and his wife Tania Rousseau. At the age of fourteen Ms. Angel moved to New York City to continue her training as a scholarship student with The Joffrey Ballet School. In 1980 Ms. Angel became a member of The Joffrey II Dancers under the direction of Sally Bliss and Maria Grandy and by 1982 joined The Joffrey Ballet directed by Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino. During her tenure with The Joffrey Ballet Ms. Angel was featured in many ballets including Frederick Ashton’s “ Les Patineurs”, “ A Wedding Bouquet”, and “ Monotones I”, John Cranko`s “ Jeu de Cartes”, “ Romeo and Juliet” and “ The Taming of the Shrew”, Paul Taylor’s “ Cloven Kingdom” , “ Arden Court” and “Aureole”, Jiri Kylian`s “ Dream Dances” and “ Forgotten Land”, as well as Pilobolus` “ Untitled”, Agnes DeMille`s “ Rodeo”, Kurt Joos` “ The Green Table”, Mark Morris` “ Esteemed Guests” Laura Dean’s “ Force Field” and many pieces choreographed by Gerald Arpino.
In 1987 Ms. Angel was invited by Artistic Director Edward Villella to join his newly founded Miami City Ballet. During this time Ms. Angel’s repertoire included George Balanchine`s “ Apollo”, “ Serenade”, “ The Steadfast Tin Soldier”, “ Concerto Barocco”, “ Tarantella”, “ Square Dance”, “ Scotch Symphony”, and “ Divertimento #15”. Ms. Angel has also performed works by other artistic luminaries such as Lynn Taylor-Corbett, Twyla Tharp and James Kudelka.
Ms. Angel’s international performance experiences include Columbia, England, France, Guatemala, Hong Kong and Israel.
In 2001 Ms. Angel began her teaching career. Ms. Angel has been on the ballet faculty of The Miami Conservatory and The New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida and Virginia School of the Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia. As of 2010 Ms. Angel became a member of the ballet faculty at Dance Theatre of Lynchburg as well as The Joffrey South Summer Intensive in Milledgeville, Georgia. As of September 2013 Ms. Angel has joined the ballet faculty at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Ms. Angel has choreographed and set works for The New World School of the Arts, The Miami Conservatory, The Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, The Virginia School of the Arts, Opera on the James, The Academy of Fine Arts, Dance Theatre of Lynchburg and Randolph College. In August 2014 Ms. Angel was invited to join the faculty of Troy University in Troy, Alabama as Ballet Instructor/Lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
